California Consumer Protection
Reforms in 1999 includes SB 836. This legislation requires "...
all 'before and after' photographs to be comparable in presentation
so that results are not distorted by favorable poses/lighting,
and they must contain a statement that the same 'before and after'
results may not occur for all patients. Prohibited are photographs
that do not clearly identify the subject is a model or if they
do not accurately depict the results of the procedure advertised."
